Last Updated 21 July 2013, 20:41 IST

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday asked advocates to tend to large number of property cases pending in Devanahalli courts.

The Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) near Devanahalli has attracted many property buyers and developers to the region.

“Around 12,000 cases are pending before Devanahalli courts and there is a lot of delay in disposal of these cases. The advocates should strive to get justice to their clients and address the issues that are delaying the disposal of cases,” the chief minister said after inaugurating the building of the Bangalore Rural District Advocates’ Association at Devanahalli.

“Advocates should stand up for the values and principles of justice even at the cost of their lives,” he said.

Siddaramaiah added that the government is also contemplating on constructing a district head quarters at Devanahalli. “Administrative offices need to be brought closer to residents of this area. Now, they have to go to the City for every small reason. That should be avoided,” he said.

Yettinahole water project

The government will address the drinking water problem in Devanahalli, Chikkaballapur and surrounding areas and is in the process of bringing water from Yettinahole.

The government has also set aside Rs 50 crore for implementing the G S Paramashivaiah committee report which envisages drawing water to arid Central Karnataka districts such as Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumkur and Bangalore Rural from West flowing rivers.

Siddaramaiah honoured Ronaldo Colaco for funding the construction of the Advocates’ Association building.
