Ready to make a comeback?

Last Updated 24 July 2013, 13:48 IST

It’s nearly been two years since Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan became a mother and for a while now, Bollywood has been buzzing with curiosity as to when she’ll return to the silver screen.

Although the former beauty queen has stepped in front of the camera for a few
advertisements, she’s yet to take on a full-fledged role.

Rumours have been floating for a while that she’s been working hard to shed her extra baby fat and prepare for the perfect role — and now, it seems that she’s finally getting ready to sign a project.

Himesh Reshammiya has reportedly bought the rights for the remake of Masoom from the original producers, Chanda and Devi Dutt.

Word on the grapevine is that the remake will be directed by Bedobrata Pain, whose historical drama Chittagong received lavish critical acclaim last year. And apparently, Himesh has decided that Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan will be perfect in a leading role in the film.

That isn’t all, though — he’s keen to rope Abhishek Bachchan into the project as well.

They are rumoured to be reprising the two roles that were immortalised by
Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah.

According to a source, Abhishek and Aishwarya have agreed ‘in principle’ to be in the remake. “Now, the details are being worked out,” adds the source.
