JOIN USTwo minor girls were sexually assaulted in different places in the capital, police said.
The first incident took place in south-east Delhi’s Jaitpur on Saturday afternoon.
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped there by her neighbour, who was later arrested.
The victim went out of her house to play after she returned from school. The accused Murshid, 22, who lives near her house, lured her and took her to his room. He attempted unnatural sex with the minor girl.
The girl started crying and her mother who was passing by heard her screams. In the meantime, locals gathered outside but the accused fled. The victim’s mother informed police and the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was discharged after treatment.
On the victim’s statement and medical report, police have registered a case of rape with Jaitpur police station and arrested the accused.
In the second incident, a class 10 student alleged that a youth living in her neighbourhood in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar befriend her and raped her. The 13-year-old victim said that the accused identified as Sameer, a few months ago made friendship with her and a month ago he took her to unknown location and raped her. He threatened her not to tell the incident to anyone.
She remained quiet but when the accused again approached her and asked to have physical relation with her, she narrated the whole incident to her parents, who approached police and registered a case of rape against him.
Police have taken her statement, and a medical examination was done and the accused was arrested.
