Road dug up by BWSSB left open

The BWSSB had dug up the 9th main road in Jayanagar 3rd block (on the pavement in front of the State Bank of Mysore branch). The work of changing the valve was finished the same night. But the workers have left the pit unfilled, even after more than three months since the work was completed. This is causing inconvenience to pedestrians. The BWSSB must take steps to set right the anomaly.

One of the residents placed a slab of granite over the deep hole and pedestrians do a balancing act while walking on it. During rains, the hole is filled with water and becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Whenever a SUV or two is parked by the side of the hole, one can imagine the pedestrians’ plight as they have to avoid falling into the deep hole and walk right in the middle of a busy road, risking life and limbs. The authorities must act immediately.

Vacant site posing health hazard

The vacant site next to my house number 557 in 6th Main, Sadashivanagar, Ward 35 belongs to a person named Nagesh. The site, full of weeds and shrubs, has turned into a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

My complaint to BBMP control room on July 20 has not yielded any result till this day.
When contacted, Keshavamurthy, the Assistant Engineer of the ward told me that he cannot clean all the vacant sites in Bangalore.

Palike Health Inspector Muniyappa appeared to be least bothered about the issue.

The Malleswaram legislator and the authorities concerned in the Palike are hereby requested to take steps for cleaning the vacant site.

Road in bad shape

The stretch of the Mysore Road near BHEL junction has become very unsafe to drive. During  rains, it is full of slush, mud and becomes very slippery.

Pedestrians and vehicle riders face a number of problems because of this.

Repeated communications in this regard to the Bangalore Metrorail Corporation Limited have gone unheeded.

The authorities must wake up before tragedy strikes.

Provide proper water supply

There is no proper water supply for the past one week on 1st main, 2nd cross of Vinayaka Nagar (Adugodi Post). Residents are facing a number of problems because of this. BWSSB must ensure proper water supply at the earliest.

Clear unused vehicles

Just opposite the main gate of St Joseph’s Convent on Promenade Road, Fraser Town, a couple of dilapidated three-wheelers are parked for more than a couple of years now. Neither the traffic police nor the BBMP have bothered to clear them. It is high time that the unused vehicles are towed away, thus creating the much-needed space on the pavements for schoolchildren to walk.

Streamline BMTC services

Besidents and the IT professionals are facing a lot of problems due to lack of buses from Hebbal to Banashankari via the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

There are a number of  IT companies in Doddanekundi, ORR. But there is only one Volvo bus (500 A) from Hebbal to Banashankari. This bus is also not very frequent.

At the same time, there is a 500 D bus (Hebbal to Central Silk Board) every 10 minutes. The residents request the BMTC to increase the frequency of the Volvo buses (500 A) or extend the 500 D buses up to Banashankari.

The BMTC authorities are requested to reroute some of the bus services like 273 C, 401A and BC 8, originating from Jalahalli Cross bus stand on Subroto Mukherjee Road, to travel on the service road, off Tumkur Road, and touch the bus stops at Jalahalli Cross, Dasarahalli, 8th Mile, Deepak or Sobha Nagasandra, Parle G, etc. and take a U-turn at the Toll Road and come back to the Jalahalli Cross bus stand on Subroto Mukherjee Road, to proceed on their normal routes. This will immensely help many residents in these localities, particularly schoolchildren, women and senior citizens.

People struggle to cross the busy highway to go to the other side of the road to catch a bus to Jalahalli Cross bus stand, to travel towards BEL Circle, Yelahanka, Vidyaranyapura, etc.

Health issuesdue to poor sanitation

We, the residents of Shivaji Road Cross in Shivajinagar face severe problems due to sanitary overflow for a long time.

In spite of repeated complaints to the authorities concerned, no permanent solution has been offered. Schoolchildren, who pass by this road, too face severe health problems because of this. I request the authorities concerned to take immediate action and solve the problem.

Don’t permit bar in RR Nagar

There is already a bar in the first main of BHEL Layout, Kenchenahalli in RR Nagar. It is now learnt that one more bar will be opened shortly in the vicinity. The officials concerned of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike are requested to not to allow one more bar in the area in the interest of peace and safety of the residents.

Repair phone lines

The BSNL had installed a pillar box on 7th ‘A’ main road in 1st block of HRBR Layout, Banaswadi. But that is now old and damaged.

The residents are facing the problem of the landline phones getting disconnected frequently.
The residents found out that rats were biting into the phone lines in the pillar.

Several complaints to BSNL officials have gone in vain. The authorities must do the needful.

Kanakapura Road poorly lit Kanakapura Road after Konanakunte signal is poorly lit. Dividers are not marked properly and it is difficult to spot them. There are many instances of vehicles hitting these dividers due to poor visibility near Kanakapura Road-Anjanapura Road junction. High beam lights of vehicles coming from the opposite side make driving very difficult. Road sides have become slippery due to sand deposits making riding two-wheelers a risky venture. The situation may worsen further if the Metro work starts on the stretch.

Students not allowed in Pushpak buses

Student passes are not allowed in BMTC Pushpak service. Both the driver and the conductor of the bus bluntly refuse to allow students into the bus.

Reason given by one of them was “the conductor cannot move around in the bus if the students are allowed”.

This happened to my children too (bus number KA-01/F 3603, Depot 8.) I came across a similar incident at Mathikere bus stop. (bus number 401B, KA 01 FA 39 Depot 16.)
This causes a lot of inconvenience to the students who have to wait for long time to get buses to go their schools or back home.

Will the authorities concerned take and note of this and initiate strict action against erring bus drivers and conductors?

Road not restored after drainage work

The work on replacing the old sewage pipes in 5th Main, Jayanagar 3rd Block (East) was completed a few days ago. However, the road has not been restored after the completion of the work.
Residents have to jump over the heap of mud to enter their houses. We can neither park our vehicles. Rain only aggravates the situation. Can someone please take action to clean this up?

Old Airport Road needs urgent repairs

The condition of the Old Airport Road near the Manipal Hospital junction is very pathetic for quite some time now. The question of funds to repair the road should not be a problem as it is reported that crores of rupees are being spent by BBMP for road maintenance.

The BBMP must see to it that roads are kept motorable and free of potholes for a smooth ride.

Irregular water supply

The residents of 5th stage in BEML Layout, adjacent to University Layout in Rajarajeshwarinagar, are facing irregular water supply. Water is supplied once a week some times, 10 days on some occasions and that too in trickles. We are forced to buy water from tankers frequently. I understand similar complaints were lodged with the BWSSB, but to no avail. Will the Water Board take remedial measures?
