Beary Academy awards to Ibrahim, Kasim, Muhammed

District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar presented the awards to the achievers. Each award included Rs 10,000 cash, shawl, plaque and a memento. The three had been selected for the awards for their contributions to the fields of Beary art, language and literature respectively.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, U A Kasim Ullal appealed the people to purchase and read the literary works of/on Beary language which would be an instant encouragement to Bearys. He said the Beary language is not limited to mere Bearys but is spoken by the members of various communities in the coastal districts.

In his address, District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar said the contribution of Bearys are not limited to mere trade and business but they have their say in language and literature too. Bearys are known for their hospitality as well as joint family system. It is only among Bearys the joint family system is existing even today, he noted.
Appreciating the activities of Beary Sahitya Academy, the minister said academies should strive towards eliminating the negative aspects of the society.

Academy President M B Abdul Rahman presided. Kanthavara Kannada Sangha President Dr Na Mogasale, Kannada Sahitya Parishat DK unit President S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Thumbe Muhiyuddin Education Trust President B Ahmed Haji Muhiyuddin, Academy Registrar S H Shivarudrappa were present on the occasion.
