Post traffic police in Uttarahalli

The junction in front of the Shani Mahatma Temple on Uttarahalli main road in Chikkallasandra has been witnessing frequent traffic jams, especially during peak hours.

There is a need for constant vigil by traffic police to avoid choking on the road.
Policemen should be deputed to ease movement of vehicles.

Ply more buses from Soundarya Layout

Residents of Soundarya Layout in Meenakashi Layout and Bonemill area are facing hardships as there are no city buses from these areas to Shivajinagar in the morning hours.

The BMTC has stopped the operation of the lone bus on route number 250W. The BMTC authorities are requested to ply buses at regular intervals of 15 minutes, particularly during morning hours to help officegoers.

Streamline ration card centres

The authorised outlet to register for new ration cards at ‘G’ Block, Sahakaranagar (behind HDFC Bank) has been closed for reasons unknown. Therefore, the residents have to approach another authorised outlet situated near the Kodigehalli railway cross.

This outlet caters to the ration card needs of residents from Thindlu, Virupakshapura, Kodigehalli, Sahakaranagar, Bytarayanapura and surrounding areas and is crowded always.

Many of the resxidents, including myself, have not been able to register for the cards despite making several trips to the outlet.

When my turn came, the personnel at the outlet did not accept the ration card of the introducer, as it was issued in Yelahanka. I request the authorities concerned to understand the problems faced by the common people and to do away with this condition of bringing an introducer for a new ration card.

Riskiest traffic junction

Seshadripuram, in the centre of the old Bangalore city, connects different parts of Bangalore. Thousands of vehicles pass through the area daily, and traffic congestion is worst during the evening hours and weekends.

The traffic police are finding it extremely difficult to guide and manage the traffic, especially at the junction of the Platform Road and Mantri Square. The area around the Rajiv Gandhi statue, that separates the traffic towards Malleswaram and city railway station is the most affected traffic island. Whenever it rains, the traffic congestion starts from the underbridge between Old Kino Theatre and Mantri Square.

The pedestrians, especially senior citizens, women and children, are in great danger and risk while crossing between the roads to bus stops on both sides of the Rajiv Gandhi statue. This is mainly due to lack of proper traffic signals and well-defined pedestrian crossings.

There are no railings on both sides of the roads, leading from Nataraja Theatre up to the statue area. People tend to cross the road wherever they want. Barricading with proper iron railings have to be done as topmost priority by the departments concerned like the traffic police, BMTC, BBMP, Bescom, before precious lives are lost. Also, there should be a powerful high mast light in this area.

Roads need repair

The road in N S Palya, next to the P M Kalyana Mantapa (behind Shoppers’ Stop) has been dug to lay sanitary lines, but the road has not been restored even after eight years. This is causing inconvenience to the nearly 100 families residing in the locality.

The officials are asking the residents to get the road fixed themselves. Is this what we pay the taxes for?  Siju Daniel

The Hennur Main Road is in a very bad state in spite of repeated complaints.

The corporator of this ward needs to take a walk around (driving is almost impossible) and have a look for himself.

Water has flooded an entire stretch of the road, there are potholes that damage all vehicles and mud is thrown up at pedestrians when they try to cross the road.

Pathetic is an understatement. This road needs to be repaired and quickly.

Road needs repair

The condition of the road from Marathahalli to HAL is in a pitiable state. Hundreds of vehicles pass through this stretch every day, putting the motorists at great inconvenience.

Roads were dug up to lay a pipeline and the concreting work thereafter has not been done properly. The government collects huge amount of money by way of road tax. The authorities concerned are requested to take up the matter on a war footing.

Plug water pilferage

The water supply pipeline in front of house no. 528 ‘A’ on 10th main in MC Layout, Vijayanagar, is damaged and precious water is being wasted. Despite complaints, the BWSSB has not bothered to plug the pilferage.

Palike must be responsive

Previously, the BBMP used to be responsive to the complaints put forth by the public through the Spandana website.

But these days, it seems BBMP does not bother much about the public grievances/complaints. The complaint submitted by me on August 26, regarding streetlights not working has not been addressed, despite several reminders. BBMP officials must get the streetlights repaired at the earliest.  Bhaskar

Address water woes

There is a severe water crisis in many areas of Sanjaynagar. This issue requires urgent intervention from the highest authorities concerned so that people in Sanjaynagar are supplied with water for which they are shelling out money every month to BWSSB.

V S Ganeshan,

Fix faulty streetlights

There are no streetlights inside the pedestrian subway at Gangenahalli, (Bellary Road). It becomes very difficult for people using the stretch, when they take a short cut to proceed to Sanjaynagar in the night.

There is the danger chain snatchers robbing the motorists. Building a raised bund at the entrances on both sides can prevent rainwater from entering and flooding the subway.

The low false ceiling has been ripped apart by vandals, who have stolen the tubelight fittings. Permanent light fittings could be fixed onto the concrete roof slab to prevent theft.

Bad roads in Telecom Layout

Two roads in Telecom Layout and Jakkur dug up three months ago have not been asphalted so far. Crushed stones have been  laid on the stretch without putting tar. Residents are suffering from various allergies due to the dust emanating when vehicles move on the road. Officials concerned must ensure that the roads are laid afresh.

Seats in buses for elderly

This is regarding reserving seats in city buses for senior citizens. In most of the new buses, there is no mention of the seats reserved for the elderly. The conductors also do not ensure that senior citizens get to occupy seats meant for them. BMTC
