Tarun sparkles in Hammonds CC win

Tarun dished out an all-round show to power Hammonds Cricket Club to a facile 80-run win over IISc Gymkhana in the KSCA Group I Division IV tournament for the Metro Shield here.

Batting first, Hammonds rode on half-centuries from Piyush (64) and Tarun (57) to post a challenging 255 for nine from their allotted 50 overs.

Tarun then returned to torment IISc with the ball too, scalping five for 29 as Hammonds dismissed them for 175 in 41.5 overs.

In another match, a good bowling effort helped Friends Cricket Club defeat Crescent Cricket Club (1) by four wickets.

Crescent Cricket Club (1): 152 all out in 40.4 overs (Deepak Chauhan 41, Chethan 31; Arvind 2-14, Bheem R 3-36, Deepu 2-21, Arvind Swamy 2-15) lt to Friends Cricket Club: 154/6 in 45 overs (Sandeep 43; Sunderesh 2-28, M Karan 3-46).

Malleswaram United CC: 98/6 in 20 overs (Ramkrishna 26; Sanath 2-13, Shyam Ponnappa 2-20) lt to Young Challenging Cricketers: 99/1 in 17.4 overs (Shyam Ponnappa 39 n.o., Santhosh 27). Match reduced to 20 overs a side.

Jayanagar Cricketers: 278 all out in 48.3 overs (Nandish 45, Dhruv Mahlohtra 26, Venkatesh TL 78, Pratik Patil 42; Sandesh KS 3-56) bt National United CC: 163 all out in 26.1 overs (KS Sandesh 73; Krishna 3-28, Pratik Patil 2-39, Sri Hari 3-26).
