Odisha Congress leader expelled

The All India Congress Committee(AICC) on Tuesday expelled Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, a former Member of Parliament(MP), from the primary membership of the party for six years.

Patnaik, the son-in-law of former Odisha chief minister and present Assam Governor, J B Patnaik and brother of former Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik has been sacked from the party for anti-party activities.

He has been at a loggerheads with the present PCC chief Jayadev Jena since the removal of his brother from the important post a few months back. A PCC disciplinary committee accusing him of trying to form a parallel organization after he launched a “Sankalpa Yatra” in several districts.
