Also, a further 1.68 lakh million tonnes of wheat will be released through tender sale under Open Market Sale Scheme (bulk), under which the State will receive 29,235 million tonnes from October to December. Tenders will be opened on November 17 and 18. With the release of stocks in the market, price of wheat which ranges from from Rs 1,570 to 1,800 per quintal in the State would hopefully come down crashing.
The FCI has a total of 11.5 lakh million tonnes of wheat in all four southern states including Union Territories of Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar. The FCI has also been releasing 43,503 million tonnes of wheat and 21,753 million tonnes of rice to the State under drought relief measures.
