Organic village inaugurated

Speaking after inaugurating the Gubbiga organic village at Sutta in N R Pura on Saturday, Manjunath said that the SKDRDP will create awareness on organic farming in nearly 6,000 villages. The programme is aimed at popularising the organic farming, he added.

Farmers have given up the usage of green leaf fertilisers and instead depend on chemical fertilisers. This will not only reduce the fertility of land, but also make food products poisonous, he warned. Farmers have become dependant on chemical fertilisers and seeds manufactured by multi-national companies. Introduction of organic farming will help in reducing this dependency, Manjunath added.
