Flushed with success from last year’s successful launch the Sunfeast World 10K Bangalore, the World’s Premier 10K Run is back with a bang with the second edition being held May 31.

Not just about speed and fitness, world-wide long distance running events have been gaining immense importance as fund raising platforms and community based activities involving people from cross sections of society and all walks of life.

“The Sunfeast World 10K Bangalore in particular will provide a platform for individuals to test their fitness levels and also give them an opportunity to raise funds for charities of their choice. The response to the charity drive has been very encouraging with prominent personalities from all walks of life signing up as part of the ‘Corporate cares’ initiative.

Last year, the event generated over Rs 41 lakh towards charity and we hope to double the figure this time. Live pictures of the action will be also telecast all around the world and Bangalore will be showcased like never before,” says representatives from Procam International who are promoting the event.

Besides, the excitement and thrill of the race, the participants can look forward to goodie bags, attractive offers from the event partners and sponsors, keepsake marathon photos at attractive prices and participation certificates.

Leading long distance runners, ranging from Kenya’s Grace Momanyi, defending champion in the women’s section to Rwanda’s Dieudonne Disi in the men’s section — who won the Delhi Half Marathon in 2007 — are part of a 40-strong international contingent that will compete for a share of the $155,000 prize money.

Already 15,000 entries have been received and a lot more last minute registrations.Online registrations will be accepted till the close of day on May 24 while on-the-spot registrations will be on at the Get Active Sunfeast World Bangalore 10K Expo from May 27 to May 30 at the Sree Kanteerva Indoor Stadium.
