Stray dog menace

Street dogs have become a huge menace in Miller Tank Bed Area near Dev raj Urs Bhavan, Vasanthnagar, Press Trust of India building is situated. It has become difficult for people to walk on roads or ride vehicles because of this, especially at night. For staffers who come for night shift and leave the office early in the morning it has become very difficult to walk on the road. The BBMP should resolve the problem at the earliest.

Expedite work on rail overbridge

The work on construction of railway overbridge on MES Road has been progressing at snail’s pace. The road below the work site is in a very bad shape, with deep potholes and uneven surface. This is a very important link road between Tumkur Road and Hebbal, KR Puram and Hosur Road and has huge traffic density. The work on overbridge needs to be speeded up and the road below should be repaired at the earliest.

No seats for elders in BMTC buses

The seats reserved for senior citizens in BMTC buses are always occupied by the young and students. While strict action is being taken on male passengers occupying seats reserved for women, nothing is being done for those who usurp seats meant for senior citizens. The aged and the ailing are compelled to travel, standing for long hours. The authorities concerned should take action in this matter.

Ply buses to Kaggadasapura
The residents of Kaggadasapura have to depend on auto or own transport due to lack of BMTC buses.

The auto drivers demand exorbitant sum even for a short distance. At present, only one bus -314E - operates one trip in the morning and evening.

The services of route K4 and 288E could be extended up to Kaggadasapura for the benefit of passenges.

The BMTC is requested to ply more buses to Majestic and operate mini buses to KR Puram railway station.
Speed up drainage work

It is almost seven months since the work on repair of drainage began at Basavanagar AMC Main Road. This road connects eastern Bangalore (Banaswadi, Lingrajpuram, HBR layout and other areas) to RT Nagar, Mekhri Circle, Yeswanthpur and other areas. Even the adjacent residential routes which are being used as alternative roads are in a very bad shape. There is no railway overbridge or underbridge on Tannery Road. Almost 12 trains run on Hebbal-Banaswadi railway line every day and every time traffic comes to a halt for almost 15 minutes. An overbridge/underbridge could solve the problem.

Erratic power supply

Unscheduled power cut is being enforced in New Thippasandra First Block for the past one month. When questioned, Bescom authorities give one or the other reason. Additionally, the work on Suranjandas Road (from BEML Gate to Old Madras Road junction) is poorly managed. With trenches on either side of the road, it is too dangerous for commuters to drive at night, while pedestrians face the risk of falling into the trenches. This has been the case for close to six months now.

Repair Nagapura main road

The 6th main road off Nagapura main road, ward 67 has many potholes causing several accidents. The potholes are not clearly visible at night since they are covered by shadows of trees on either side of the road. In fact, the whole stretch from Nagapura main road to the 10th ‘B’ Cross is in a bad shape and needs to be re-asphalted. The BBMP is requested to do the needful.

Road damaged by metro work

The 8th Main Road of 4th Cross in Subhashnagar ward of Malleswaram is in a pathetic condition for the past two years due to metro work. There are no streetlights on this stretch. Thousands of commuters including children use this road. Buses on route No. 90 and 82 which should take this road, take a deviation at the 8th Cross. Accidents have become common here as contractors dump debris at their will. When questioned, they claim that they were doing so on the instruction of the local corporator.

Several representations to the corporator and the local MLA have not solved the problem. Since the area is dark, it has become a den of anti-social elements. Since there is no stormwater drainage, low-lying areas are inundated whenever it rains.

Regulate traffic near Gali Anjaneya Temple

Of late, the traffic at Bapujinagar near Gali Anjaneya Temple on Mysore Road has become very chaotic and messy. The root of the problem is that the traffic police are allowing ‘U’ turn here to facilitate motorists headed to RPC Layout and Bytarayanapura. While the move is helpful, it is resulting in huge pile up of traffic on both sides - at lower and upper ramps - during peak hours. Sometimes, it is very difficult to manoeuvre through this junction.

The buses of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and those of private operatorsare the major culprits, which are halted conveniently right in front of Hotel Mathrusagar allowing passengers to embark/disembark. Some time back, traffic police had put up a signboard here informing that the bus stop has been shifted. Unfortunately, the board has disappeared and traffic mess is back to square one.

The traffic police are requested to instal a signal light for the right turn towards RPC Layout, and post a policeman at the junction.

Repair this potholed stretch
This letter is to thank the authorities for responding to my previous letter requesting the maintenance of the 30th Main Road from Devegowda Petrol Bunk to KIMS College. But, the extension of this road in front of Sri Hari Kalyana Mantapa till Tyagaraja Nagar police station (ie., 30th Main Road Banashankari 2nd stage) is full of potholes.  Since the stretch is steep, two-wheelers should maintain enough speed. Particularly, the curve near the Wine Baron Shop is dangerous. The authorities concerned are requested to take action immediately.

Garbage collection halted

Door-to-door collection of garbage has come to a halt for the past one month at BM Kaval in HAL III stage. Residents are dumping garbage on road corners and vacant sites. The putrefying garbage emanates bad smell and attracts large number of stray dogs. These pack of stray dogs howl throughout night disturbing sleep. Some streetlights in the area are not working.

The mayor/BBMP commissioner is requested to inspect the spot and advice the concerned to act immediately.

Rail engines robbing sleep

The long honking of railway engines has been robbing the sleep of residents at Mantri Apartment, Malleswaram. Sometimes, the drivers keep on honking continuously from Yeshwantpur station to City railway station via Malleswaram.

The Divisional Railway Manager should revisit the sign boards for honking and re-examine the necessity of honking at several hundred decibels. Use discretion not to honk at least between 10 pm and 5 pm .

Divert buses via Sunkadakatte

Number of buses (AS 9 and BC7B) ply between 8th mile and Bydrahalli via Andrahalli, Vidyamanyanagar and Tunganagar. It is requested to extend/deviate one of these buses via Sunkadakatte/Kotagepalya for the benefit of passengers headed to Venkateshwara Layout, Vidyamanyanagar, Andrahalli, Thigaralapalya and beyond that. The BMTC is also requested to ply more buses during peak hours.

Further, the BMTC should introduce buses from 8th mile to BTM Layout, Kengeri and towards Hebbal via Andarahalli so that many officials, school and college students of these areas will be benefited. Hope the officials concerned will look into the matter at the earliest.
