One of the most well-known and respected comedians of all time, Charles Spencer, universally known as ‘Charlie Chaplin’ once said “Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot.”

To eliminate the sadness in life, a big dose of comedy was injected by Appurv Gupta, 23,  at a  show titled, Appurview.

An evening of laughter and fun organised at the City’s Akshara Theatre by New Delhi Comedy Club, was an impressive and successful attempt by the engineer-turned-stand-up artiste Appurv to put a smile on the face of the audience. The Delhi lad who studied to become an engineer from Jaypee Institute, Noida,  gave it all up for his first love–stand-up comedy. He has around 250 shows under his belt but he ensures that his jokes always remain ‘above the belt’ and clean.

Appurv has given some highly appreciated corporate performances for companies like Airtel, Tanishq, Adobe, Amex and Radio Mirchi and performed at college festivals of top colleges. Though himself an engineer Appurv didn’t spare members of his fraternity much to the amusement of the audience. There was simplicity and clean humour in his act and he did it in his distinct style.

And his jokes on the big fat Indian wedding and mobile phone operators/ companies drew a standing ovation from the crowd.

Speaking to Metrolife, Appurv, beaming at the appreciation he received from the audience said,  “I loved the day as it’s my first solo show and people laughed because of me. I have done around 250 shows and everywhere I am getting great support. No doubt, this is one of my best shows. The best part of the show is when I repeat a joke, which I may have used in a previous show and the audience completes the next line. So, it’s heartening to see that they remember my words and my act.
”“I used to do corporate performances, college shows earlier, but doing a show in an auditorium is a big thing. One doesn’t know that what kind of crowd will be present. I remember that one show when I performed in front of a thousand people  in Hyderabad. It was a grand hit ,” recalls the comedian.
