It’s final. BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address rallies in Davangere and Mangalore on February 18 and in Hubli and Gulbarga on February 28.

Addressing a press conference in Mangalore on Tuesday, BJP State vice president K Banu Prakash said Modi would address a rally at Central Maidan in Mangalore at 3 pm.
He said the Modi rally in Mangalore would break all the record turn outs at the Central Maidan.

At another press conference in Davangere, former deputy chief minister R Ashoka said that popularity of Modi was increasing by the day. “Modi has successfully conducted rallies in different parts of the country. The party will retain all its 19 seats in the State in the next Lok Sabha polls,” he added.

Prakash said that the BJP would organise a convention of woman advocates in Bangalore on February 8, to discuss the issue of safety of women. A ‘swabhimana samavesha’ will also be held at Tumkur on February 23. It will be attended by SC/ST, slum dwellers and other backward classes. The party has constituted nine committees to look into the success of the convention, he added.

On the issue of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa not willing to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, Prakash said that Yeddyurappa was the party’s candidate from Shimoga. “The party has suggested his name to the Central Committee. If Yeddyurappa contests from Shimoga, then it will strengthen the party,” he added.

However, Ashoka said that party high command would take a final call on the issue. “The first list of probable candidates will be sent to the party Central Election Committee before February 16 for finalisation, he said.
