Two gardeners beaten to death

Battered corpses found at farmhouse

Two gardeners of a farmhouse at Kapashera in south-west Delhi were found dead on Tuesday morning. The victims have been identified as Shyam Lal and Ram Keval, both in their mid-twenties. Both were employed as gardeners at the farmhouse.

Preliminary investigations showed that the victims were battered to death following an argument with some other employees at the farmhouse.Police received information around 11:30 am on Tuesday about the double murder. A senior police officer said Mahadev, a worker at the farmhouse, arrived there around 11 am to find the two men dead.

They were rushed to hospital, but were declared dead there. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-west), said the owner of the farmhouse is Avinder Kumar Singh who also runs a computer business.“Singh lived with his wife at the farmhouse but is currently on a visit to America. We are trying to get in touch with him,” said Gupta.

Another police officer said the duo appeared to have been battered to death following a heated argument with some other employees of the farmhouse early on Monday.However, no attacker has been identified and no arrest made so far. It is also not certain yet how many people were involved or what led to the attack. The employees at the farmhouse are being questioned.

Meanwhile, some items also appear to be stolen from the farmhouse after the detection of the crime. But what all has been stolen is yet to be ascertained and further progress in this direction would be possible only after the owners are contacted.

Their bodies have been sent to All India Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem. A case of murder has been filed with Kapashera police station and investigations are underway.
