Studies have established that the atrocities on women and children have been increasing across the globe. While three out of four women are being physically tortured by their husbands, one out of four pregnant women are being abused. More than six crore women are missing across the world, the prime reason being female foeticide.

According to National Crime Bureau statistics for the year 2005 an offence is being committed every three minutes in the country and modesty of women being enraged every 15 minutes.  A woman is being sexually assaulted every 53 minutes and a woman is being abducted every 23 minutes. A case of rape is being reported every 29 minutes.

The padayatra, organised by Honnashettyhalli Grameena Mahila Okkuta from Kashipura village to Mulbagal town will emphasise the effective implementation of Domestic Violence Act, a release stated.
