FIAT introduces 4 models for India market in 2014

Fiat Group Automobiles India Private Limited (FGAIPL), the fully owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, unveiled Fiat Avventura, (which is making its global debut in India), Abarth 500 and the New Fiat Linea at the recently-held Auto Expo.  

Fiat Avventura concept vehicle takes shape of a contemporary urban car, really devoted for people with an active lifestyle, who live in urban areas. The aggressive styling with tough rugged exteriors and premium interiors makes it an ideal combination of styling and functionality that is perfect for the Indian driving conditions. The increased ride height optimised driving position and the aggressive appearance also enhances the style and makes it a stand out production the panorama of the competing cars. The protective skid plates, strips and moldings, the fitted functionalised roof bars, and the spare wheel mounted externally on a special swiveling carrier with a body colored cover, makes the side image of the Fiat Avventura a truly unique one, the company said in a statement.

The President and Managing Director of FGAIPL, Nagesh Basavanhalli, said, “The introduction of new products for the Indian market is in line with our long term strategy, which puts us in a strong position to penetrate the market. We showcased some of our key products from our future Fiat and Abarth portfolio for India. We are proud to present Avventura CUV (Contemporary Urban Vehicle) first to the Indian market. The second key product from the fiat brand is the New Linea, which further strengthens the existing mid-size sedan segment. We are also proud to announce the launch of the Abarth brand in India – our racing-performance lineage brand and showcase the Abarth 500 – the flagship product of the Abarth brand worldwide. India is one of the most strategic markets for the FIAT Chrysler group and we are committed to provide the best in class technology in automobiles and service. Opening 100 exclusive dealership across the country, in a span of one year is a testament to this commitment.”

The New Linea will come with an entirely new exterior and interior styling making it even more stylish that before, with improved interior comfort, cruise control, new audio system with USB + Aux-in & Blue Tooth compatibility, reverse parking sensors and rain sensing wipers, the company said. 

FGAIPL was incorporated in Mumbai, India, in March 2012.  The company is currently selling the FIAT Linea and Punto models, which are manufactured by the Tata-Fiat joint venture. The company in India will have around 100 employees and plans to target 150 dealers by the end of 2014, the statement said.
