Beautiful voices strike a chord

The grand finale of the ‘Alive India in Concert’, held at the Phoenix MarketCity, saw popular singer Arijit Singh steal the show with his soulful voice and hit numbers. Other well-known names like Zubeen Garg, Akriti Kakkar and Aurko also performed.

The venue was teeming with people who had come from all across the City to hear the artistes perform. Despite the delay and a smart shower, the audience decided to stay back and enjoy the melodious evening with their friends and families.

While Arijit was the last one to go on the stage, others like Zubeen Garg and Akriti Kakkar performed a few of their hit songs and set the mood of the evening. Ya Ali, which made Zubeen a household name, was one of the few songs that he performed before the shower compelled him to wrap up. Akriti Kakkar, who has sung songs in movies like Jism 2 and ‘Johnny Gaddar’ etc performed some of her popular numbers like Mar Jani etc.

Finally, it was time for Arijit’s performance and he floored the audience in his short yet sweet act. He sang his popular numbers like Suno Tumhi Ho, Tu Hi Yeh Mujhko Bata De from the film Aashqui 2 and other songs like Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta Yahan Pyaar Zindagi Mein etc. The highlight of his act was that he sang without any instrumental support.

The audience could not stop applauding him. Many felt that his voice does not need any instrumental support and he is best when he sings impromptu. “He sang barely for half an hour and though I wanted to hear him for a longer time, he impressed us with his beautiful voice. Today, when singers can’t do without instruments, he is one singer who does not need anything at all. It was wonderful to hear him unplugged.” said Namrata Ranjan, who was there at the show.

Many could be seen shaking a leg to the peppy numbers and the singers cheered the audience by talking to them. Anjana, who was there at the show, said that she was a huge fan of Arijit and it was a dream come true for her to see him perform live. “I have been following Arijit since he was in a reality show and it’s great to see him become such a big name in the music industry now. He has a great voice and renders a song with a lot of emotions,” she sums up.
