Private hospitals are likely to resume providing services under Vajpayee Arogya Shree and Yeshasvini schemes in two days’ time.

Speaking to Deccan Herald on Wednesday, members of the Karnataka Private Hospitals’ Forum (KPHF) said that following an assurance from Minister for Health and Family Welfare U K Khader, they would call off the strike and resume services.

Dr Prashanth Kalkod, co-ordinator, KPHF, said that while a written assurance was given by the department with respect to the Yeshasvini scheme, an oral assurance was given with regard to the Vajpayee Arogya Shree scheme.

Since the beginning of February, the private hospitals have withdrawn their support to the government in providing free services under the two schemes, stating that the fraudulent below poverty line cards caused problems.
