Governor H R Bhardwaj on Sunday expressed unhappiness with the State government which he said “lacked” discipline.

There is no good governance, and the government has not paid special attention to ensuring that people stay healthy and in clean, authorised homes, he remarked.

“Clean homes and clean surroundings are people’s right. Bangalore’s climate is very nice, but still people suffer from deadly viral diseases such as dengue and swine flu. Besides the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), I was keen that Bangalore gets a dedicated research and disease prevention centre. But the proposal still awaits the nod of the civic agencies. It is my dream to see that Bangalore has it before my tenure gets over,” he said at the presentation of ‘Legends of Bangalore’ annual awards and book-release ceremony organised by the Chamber of Commerce for India and International Business and Industries.

The Governor urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to regularise unauthorised construction wherever possible but demolish unauthorised ones with large violations so that the natural landscape of the City is undisturbed.

“On many occasions I have told the chief minister to ensure things move in a systematic manner. I, using my international contacts with industries and communities, can bring in investments. But there seems to be something wrong with the political and corporate world which needs to be corrected to bring economy and credibility to the State and its industries. The doors of Raj Bhavan are open for all and I want to be a catalyst for development for the State and Bangalore. I also wish I could work for a couple of more months to improve the State, its functioning and economy. There should be quality and time-bound services which lack here,” he added.
