Villagers threaten boycott LS polls

The villagers of Salagumbri in Aldur hobli have decided to boycott April 17 LS election. The villagers are furious over the elected representatives for not addressing the problems in their village. 

Salagumbri village which is a part of Kelaguru gram panchayat is deprived of basic facilities including drinking water and road. 

The villagers have said that they have been submitting petitions to the authorities concerned from the gram panchayat to department officials, demanding to solve their problem, but all their attempts went in futile. 

The villagers have complained that they are facing acute shortage drinking water for the last eight years. The village has 35 houses with a population of 250. 

The road to the vilage is in deplorable condition. Elected representatives who seek vote during election forget their promise after winning the election, they complained. 

Kalasa

The villagers of Balige who had announced of boycotting of parliament election have remained firm on their decision. The villagers have continued their protest at Kadive, opposing the eviction of Inam land cultivators. 

They have firmly said that they would not exercise their franchise until and unless they get the right over their land.

Mudigere Tahsildar Shivarangappa who visited them on Saturday evening and tried to convince them to exercise their franchise, too failed in his attempt as the villagers did not budge to his request.
