Matru Sagar is best known for its variety of dosas. The South Indian and North Indian meals are a delight as well. Breakfast is popular with items as varied as Kesari Bath, Upma, Bisibele Bath, Rice Bath, Tomato Bath, Poori and Saagu, Pulav, Shavige Bath, Puliyogare and Idli. The sambar and chutney leaves a lasting taste.

The dosas too have its variations which include Masala , Plain, Paper, Banana, Open and Special Dosas. They also prepare Pesaritu Dosa, an item prepared in Hyderabadi style.
Open Dosa is soaked in butter and spiced up with flavoured masala and served with a special Chutneypudi.

Coconut and curry leaves are lavishly used in all their dishes to enhance taste. Most of their dishes have a South Canara feel to it.

“We are popular for all the South Indian items and the customers are satisfied with the quality of food. The large student presence on weekends has compelled us to extend our menu to include North Indian and Chinese dishes as well. Naan, Kulcha and Paratha and Chinese dishes like Manchurian and noodles are a hit among the young,” says Jagadish M Poojari, owner of the joint.

Come  Sunday and the menu has Rice bath, Pulav, Fried Rice, Vangi Bath, Chitranna as well as sweets.

“I frequent Matru Sagar for the dosas which are rich in its taste and flavour.  The varieties of sambar keeps the taste alive,” says Akhilesh Tiwari, a techie.
