Power supply and telephone lines were snapped.
A huge May flower tree uprooted and fell on a petty shop incurring huge loss in Basrur. Though shop owner was present inside the shop during the mishap, he escaped unhurt. Owing to the delay in implementing storm water drains, the town witnessed artificial flood.
As construction materials being dumped on the drainages, the water got clogged on the road. To beautify Kundapur town, TMC had taken ADB loan and had utilised Rs 26.25 crore for the developmental works. Of which Rs 2.5 crore were utilised for repairing drainages. However, owing to the negligence of the then in-charge official, poor quality of works have been implemented.
TMC President Mohandas Shenoy said: “We will lay underground drainage in a systematic manner. A survey is being conducted by private agency at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. After submitting the report to the government, with the help of District-in-Charge Minister, MLA, an effort will be made to get the project sanction from the government. We need to purchase private land for the construction of water tank,” he added.
