These twins have always studied together and scored almost the same marks. They have repeated that record in SSLC also.

In the results announced on Monday, Abhighna G and Anughna G, both students of VVS Sardar Patel English High School, have figured among the top three scorers.

While Abhighna has scored 621 (second highest in the State), Anughna has scored 620. For their family, the similar scores do not come as a surprise. Their parents said the daughters have always had nearly identical scores.

“Right from Class I, they have always stood first and second in the class with half a mark or one mark difference. That was the case in primary school. But we did not expect that it would repeat in SSLC, where eight lakh children wrote the exam,” said their mother Veena S, a sub-divisional engineer with BSNL. Their father Ganesh K is a professor at BMS College of Engineering. The twins now aim to get through to IIT.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Anughna said they always studied together. “We did not have a timetable or anything, but we studied together. Whatever was taught in school that day, we would come home and study. We did not attend any coaching classes, but stuck to our textbooks and solving previous years’ papers.”

Her sister Abhighna said, “Both of us are interested in getting into IIT. It is not that we chose it because the other one chose it, but coincidentally, we have been interested in the same subjects.”
Though they have not yet decided which branch of engineering they want to opt for, presently, the sisters will pursue PCMB in their pre-university programme.
