A 48-year-old man attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison in front of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence here on Monday.
Sundaresh, a resident of Bannynagar in Sira taluk of Tumkur district, collapsed minutes after he drank the poison.
The police rushed him to Bowring Hospital. He is stated to be out of danger, said the police.
Sundaresh runs women self-help groups at his native place. He had come to the City to meet Siddaramaiah, submit a memorandum and seek financial assistance as his SHGs were facing financial crunch.
However, his attempts to meet Siddaramaiah failed and he consumed poison, added the police. The High Grounds police have registered a case.
