A 50-year-old pedestrian was mowed down by a water tanker on Hongasandra Main Road in Madiwala traffic police limits on Sunday night. Police have identified the victim as Joseph, a resident of First Cross, 16th Main Road, Hongansandra.
The driver lost control over the vehicle and hit Joseph who was crossing the road in front of Famous Bakery at around 9 pm.
Joseph came under the wheels of the tanker and died on the spot. The tanker driver fled the scene, said the police.
