With only 11 days left for the completion of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh (AP), the general administration department (GAD) on Tuesday declared the list of employees based on their origins.

The list included names, their department and native region, whether they belong to Andhra or Telangana.

The list includes everyone from the cadre of additional secretary down to the cadre of DR&T assistant. The employees were asked to verify their status and if incorrectly mentioned, it is suggested that such employee should make a representations to deputy secretary, GAD, either in person or by email.

According to S K Sinha, special chief secretary to the AP government, the employees were asked to submit their objections by noon on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the order has stirred up a hornet’s nest with both Telangana and AP employees opposing the manner in which the division was made.

“We have been urging the government to give options to employees. If anyone wants to stay back and work in Telangana region even after division, which I think will be few, let them stay, why is the government forcing them to shift,” an APNGO representative said.

“Me and my husband, both are working here, while his name is under Telangana as he was born here, and my name is under Andhra. Does the government want us to separate just like the state is being divided,” a secretariat employee and a native of Nellore questioned.Meanwhile, the Secretariat Employees Union of Telangana argued that the list presented a true picture as it was based on self-declaration.

“Many Andhra natives have submitted false certificates and got the jobs. Their names were mentioned under Telangana. We will not let those people work in Telangana secretariat as they will work against the interests of the new government,” Narendra Rao, a TNGO leader argued.
