GP secretaries told to prepare action plan for NREGS implementation

1,380 of the total 8,675 works sanctioned under the scheme completed, remaining projects will be finished soon

While reviewing progress the of the various programmes, at the Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium, she said funds had been allocated for the implementation of projects and asked the Gram Panchayat secretaries to ensure that  quality works were undertaken without the misuse of funds.
She directed the executive officers of the respective taluk panchayats to keep a tab on the progress of the projects and review them periodically.

She also  directed the executive officers to guide the Gram Panchayat secretaries and suspend those who do not perform their duties efficiently.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer N Krishnappa said a total of Rs 53.40 crore was spent under the NREGS, inculding Rs 26 crore in Bagepalli, Rs 12.26 crore in Chintamani, Rs 4.9 crore in Gudibande, Rs 3.39 crore in Chikkaballapur and Rs 2.41 crore in Shidlaghatta taluk.

8,675 works
A total of 8,675 works have been sanctioned under the NREGS, of which 1,380 works  have been completed, he added. Elaborating on the pending works, he said construction of houses sanctioned under Indira Awas, Ambedkar and Ashraya need to be completed, he said and added that a hobli-level convention will be organised for the beneficiaries.
Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Chendur Venkatesh, deputy secretary S M Zulfikarulla, chief accountant H N Chandrashekar and district-level officials were present at the meeting.
