Rajasthan Cong leaders slug it out for party post

The recent declaration by PCC chief Sachin Pilot to rejig the organization has intensified political maneuverings by senior Congress leaders who were pushed into obscurity after losing the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

For these former legislators, ministers and MPs, a post in organization is now last option to keep floating in state politics. Activities in the camp of seniors have become a major cause of concern for the young leaders who are struggling to make their presence felt in state politics.

“Senior leaders lost the elections now they wants to make a come back in organization. Where will the young leaders go, specially those working hard for last five years.

These former legislators, ministers and MPs never took interest in organizational matters. Now that they have lost everything, they want a post in organization just to keep floating in state politics,” said a young Congress leader who is presently heading a cell of PCC.  In order to revive the party , faces rejected by people in the elections should not be given any post in organization, he added.

Leaders said that senior party leaders have started lobbying for the post in the PCC  while many former MPs are looking at the AICC. Sources said that a couple of leaders are even camping in New Delhi seek the help of their god fathers and seek support.

Several leaders who are reportedly interested in the organizational post include the names like former legislators Sayam Lodha, Pratap Singh Khachariawas, Raghu Sharma, former ministers like Rajendra Pareek, Bhawar Lal Meghwal, Mahindra Malviya and former Mps including Mahesh Joshi  and Lal Chand Kataria.

However, sources close to Pilot said that PCC chief is looking for a young team which can work for next 20-30 years in the state. However after the back to back defeat, it would be difficult for the party to ignore the senior and experienced leadership.
