Minor girls raped in UP

Even as the nation is outraged over the rape and murder of two teenaged cousins in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, two other minor sisters were raped in Etah district, about 250 km from here.

The sisters, aged 15 and 13 years, were allegedly gang raped in the fields near Siyapur village in the district on Thursday evening. Three youths from the village had waylaid the girls who were going to a nearby flour mill with a bag of wheat, according to police officers.

The youths, identified as Mahipal, Rajpal and Sanjay Kumar, dragged the unsuspecting minor victims to the fields and outraged their modesty after threatening to kill them if they raised alarm, the sources said.

The matter came to light after the two girls, who are residents of the nearby Manupur village, returned home and informed their parents about the incident.

The cops in Etah district swung into action and immediately rounded up the accused, the officials said. The two girls have been sent for medical examination.

Security personnel in strength have been deployed at the home of the victims as a precautionary measure. Senior officials  inspected the spot to collect pieces of evidence, sources added.
