Getting fresh trade licence is just a mouse click away as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has introduced online trade licence registration system.

Launching the scheme on Wednesday, Mayor B S Satyanarayana expected annual revenue of Rs 100 crore to the Palike from five lakh traders spread across Bangalore.

He said that last year, the revenue from trade licence was Rs 12 crore but ever since the renewal of trade licence was made online, the revenue touched Rs 18.15 crore from 43,875 traders in just two months.

Trade Licence Jatha

As 4.5 lakh traders have not yet got trade licences, the BBMP would launch a ‘Trade Licence Jatha’ or camps at 28 places in the City from June 16 to July 16 to encourage traders to register themselves by paying the requisite fee.

Traders can get the licence by submitting rent agreement copy, approval letter and property tax receipt.

The traders will have to display the trade licence copies in their shops. The traders will also have to fulfil the basic norms of running the shop as mandated under the Karnataka Municipal Corporation (KMC) Act.

The Mayor said, “If all the five lakh-odd traders pay trade licence fee, our financial condition would improve. We also want to bring industries under the trade licence purview. Presently, they approach the government to exempt them from trade licences since they are into manufacturing business. We are waiting for the government order.”
