The India-made range of “D-Max”, one of the largest selling pickup trucks the world over, from Isuzu will now burn rubber on Karnataka’s highways. The D-Max range comprises three models —two cabin options and two deck options.

The mighty D-Max is propelled by a 2499-cc, 4-cylinder intercooled turbocharged diesel engine, mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. This powerful engine pumps out 134 hp power @ 3600 rpm and 294 Nm torque @ 1800-3200 rpm range, which enables D-Max to carry a payload of 1.2 ton effortlessly.

Isuzu's D-Max has a heavy-duty chassis, a large cargo bed to "accommodate the bulkiest of loads" and its body structure is made from high-tensile-strength steel. It sports a bold and aggressive look on the outside and sophisticated, passenger-car like interiors, making it a pride for the owner.

Apart from its sleek and stylish exterior, the interiors of D-Max are capacious and stylishly-finished, providing driver and passengers with a SUV-like feel. The seats in the all-new Isuzu D-MAX are designed with long-distance comfort offering excellent support.

A completely new concept in India, the new D-MAX Space Cab’s unique feature is extended cabin space of 1.5 feet behind the driver’s seat, which can store valuable goods.

The D-MAX Space Cab offers advance safety measures along with other significant features like power steering, power windows, centralized door lock, and AC with heater, among others, making it ideal for commercial use in industries like agriculture, retail, dairy, engineering, manufacturing and small business owners.

The Space Cab will be available in three colour options including Alpine White, Sterling Metallic Silver and Nautilus Blue.

Isuzu Motors India Managing Director Takashi Kikuchi notes that the Indian pickup truck segment is one of largest and fastest growing segments in Commercial Vehicles (CV), accounting for 35 per cent of the total CV market.

“We’re observing a gradual shift in customer preference from Small Commercial Vehicles to Pick-ups. By 2023, the 1 Tn pickup segment in India is expected to grow to 8 lakh units and become the world’s largest pickup market.”

The D-Max Single cab will be available in flat deck and D-MAX Space Cab will be available in both flat deck and arched deck variants.

The DMAX Single Cab will be priced at an introductory launch price of Rs 5,99,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore) and the DMAX Space Cab will be priced at Rs 6,19,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore) for the flat deck variant and Rs 7,09,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore) for the arched deck variant.

Isuzu Motors India will 60 outlets across India by end of 2015-16.
