Teachers' eligibility test tomorrow

As many as 3.77 lakh people keen to take up teaching posts at the primary schools in government, aided and private schools across the State will appear for the Karnataka Teachers’ Eligibility Test (KARTET) on June 22. 

This is the first time the exam has been conducted in the State and this with the aim to bring in national standards in teachers quality as per the guidelines of National Council for Teachers Education.    

The exam will be conducted in two schedules: Between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm around 1.87 lakh will appear for Paper 1 (to be eligible to teach in classes 1 to 5) and between 2 pm and 4.30 pm as many as 2.14 lakh aspirants will appear for Paper 2 (to be eligible to teach in classes 6 to 8). There are as many as 694 exam centres throughout the State.

 The minimum pass percentage in the test is 60 percent for general category candidates and 55 per cent for reserved category candidates.
