The City police are likely to question the father of Reshvin Chengappa, who has confessed to killing Saurabh Rastogi, a private company senior manager, for allegedly trying to hide the murder committed by his son.

The police will interrogate A C Ramesh, an ex-serviceman, once they complete the ongoing investigation into the murder, said a senior police officer.

“We will be questioning Ramesh as he has tried to hush up his son’s criminal act. Reshvin murdered Saurabh on June 14 and revealed his act to Ramesh the next day. Reshvin had wept after he narrated the murder,” an investigating officer said.

Ramesh did not inform the police as he wanted to hush up the matter. Hence, his inquiry would be very crucial for taking the case to a logical end. The police will question him once the ongoing probe gets over, he added.

Saurabh, who had got a better job in the United States, had decided to settle there with his wife. He wanted to sell his flat and furniture before moving there.

Reshvin knew about Saurabh’s plans and decided to meet him. He went to Saurabh’s flat on June 14 on the pretext of renting the flat. He spent about 10 minutes talking to Saurabh and told him that his (Reshvin’s) parents had sent him to finalise matters.

Reshvin told Saurabh that he would rent the flat and also buy all the furniture, said the police. Saurabh was seated on the sofa during the interaction. Suddenly, Reshvin pounced on Saurabh, took out a dagger hidden in his pocket and stabbed the latter in the stomach twice. Later, he slit Saurabh’s throat six times, police said.

“The investigating police are not ready to give a clean chit to Saurabh’s wife Ankisha. We are still investigating. We can’t say anything at this stage about Ankisha’s involvement.

She is being interrogated without break,” said police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar.

Meanwhile, the police produced Reshvin before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court. He was remanded in judicial custody.
