JOIN USDepressed at not having children, a married couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at their home in Hale Guddadahalli near Vinayak Nagar off Mysore Road on Wednesday.
Police said Srinivas Rao, 31, who ran an electronics shop, and his wife Tulasi, 27, consumed the poison some time after the former returned home around 7.30 pm. When Rao’s father Prabhakar came home around 1.30 am, he saw the couple lying on the floor.
He rushed them to a hospital where Tulasi was declared brought dead while Rao failed to respond to treatment in the early hours of Thursday.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple, married for several years, were reportedly depressed at not having children. They consulted a few doctors and underwent treatment but Tulasi failed to conceive, the police said, adding that this might have driven them to suicide.
