Sagar DySP K G Devaraju told Deccan Herald that, at this stage the complaint will be considered as an application. As the incident took place in Hosanagar taluk limits, it will be referred to the concerned police station, he added.
In the complaint, Sumana Hegde (name changed) has alleged that she was subjected to sexual harassment during her stay in Gurukula in 2004-05 by Jagadish Sharma, who was Pradhana Acharya of the hostel. The girl has complained that Sharma used to make sexual advances towards her and had summoned her to come to library in the pretext of providing books and had attempted rape.
The complainant has said that she had even attempted suicide. During a counselling with a medicine practitioner, the complainant had revealed her agonies. On knowing the incident, her parents admitted her to a school in their native, Sagar. The complainant has said that though her parents brought the issue to the notice of the Gurukula management, no action was taken.
