In a shocking incident, a woman, who had been accused of ‘raping’ a girl of her own village, had to reportedly undergo a ‘sex test’ in ‘desi style’ on the orders of a panchayat though an earlier test conducted at the government hospital had categorically stated that the ‘accused’ was a woman.

The shocking incident occurred at Bishanpuri village in Aligarh district on Saturday.

Reports said a girl of the village had eloped with her lover a few days back but she was later traced by the police and was brought back.

In her statement before the police, the girl reportedly alleged that a woman of the village had ‘lured’ her to elope.

She also alleged that the woman was in fact a ‘male’ and that she had ‘raped’ her.

The ‘accused’ woman, who was married with three children, was taken into custody by the police her medical examination was conducted at the district hospital.

The medical examination, according to the reports, found the ‘accused’ to be a woman and refuted the allegations of rape after which she was released.

The woes of the ‘rape accused’ woman, however, continued as her own kin, the girl’s family members and even many villagers, continued to ‘doubt’ the medical test and ‘suspected’ that she was indeed a man.

The reports said the woman then decided to get the matter settled once and for all. She persuaded her husband to convene a panchayat to discuss the matter.

The panchayat was convened on Saturday and after a lengthy deliberations, it ordered that another test should be conducted on the woman to ascertain if she was a female.

Two women, one each from the two families, were asked to conduct the test in ‘desi’ style.

The two women conducted the test and found her to be a woman.

The local police said it had information about the panchayat and that it was trying to verify the same.
