Historysheeter Somashekar Gowda alias Some Gowda, who was with MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar when two policemen were assaulted at a bar in UB City in the early hours of Wednesday, is involved in several cases of attacks and vandalism reported from star hotels and pubs in the City.

According to police sources, Gowda, 43, is an accused in more than 10 cases registered in various police stations across the City.

“He organises parties at luxury hotels and bars for politicians and their children.

Once the party is over, he threatens the bar or hotel management by dropping the names of politicians and does not pay the bill.

Such incidents have been reported from Le Meridien, Lalith Ashok, Pebbles and other pubs and hotels in the City,” said a senior police officer.

It is said that Gowda had organised the party on behalf of Kashappanavar at Skyye bar.

Gowda and his associates were arrested in 2009 by the High Grounds police for creating a ruckus at Opus Hotel near Palace Cross Road.

Three months ago, he was called to the High Grounds police station for a routine inquiry of history-sheeters. But he was exempted from appearance as Kashappanavar had allegedly threatened the police officers against interrogating Gowda.

‘Arrest the MLA’

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar has demanded the arrest of Vijayanand Kashappanavar.

Shettar told mediapersons that the government should not hesitate to take action against those who take law into their hands.

When questioned about the incident, Home Minister K J George said that hundreds of cases get registered every day across the State and he cannot keep tabs on them. He said that he would be able to confirm the incident only after speaking to the City police commissioner.
