A painter fell to his death from the ninth floor of an under-construction building on New Mission Road under S J Park police limits in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased Paramananda, 52, a native of Rajasthan, had come to the City couple of days ago and had taken up a contract to paint the 11-storey commercial building.

The security guard of the building heard a loud noise and found the deceased lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He alerted other security guards who shifted him to a nearby hospital, but he was declared brought dead, police said. The police surmised that he was on the ninth floor and since it was dark, he may have fallen down accidentally while walking. A case of unnatural death has been registered.

Man commits suicide

A 32-year-old businessman hung himself to death in a room of the lodge where he was staying, near the Satellite Bus Stand under Byatarayanapura police limits on Tuesday.

The deceased Sunil, a native of Palakkad in Kerala, was working as a businessman in Dubai.

He had returned to Kerala to take care of his brother, who was in coma, following an accident. On realising that his brother’s health was deteriorating, he got depressed.

He came to the City four days ago without informing anyone at home. The worried family members had lodged a missing complaint in Palakkad.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning, when the staff of the lodge grew suspicious as Sunil did not open the door for a long time.

One of the staff members of the lodge peeped through the window of Sunil’s room and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

The police, who visited the spot, sent the body for post mortem. There was no death note found. The family members, when informed about the incident, told the police that he might have taken the extreme step as he was worried about his brother’s health.

A case has been registered at the Byatarayanapura police station and investigation is on.
