A 16-year-old girl was allegedly lured from school and gang-raped at gunpoint by five people, including a CRPF constable and two minors, in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on July 19.

The accused also allegedly recorded the act a cellphone to blackmail the girl into keeping quiet. Neither the gun nor the video has been recovered.

A senior officer told Deccan Herald that the accused claimed to have deleted the video soon after the gang-rape.

Three people, including the two juveniles, have been arrested. The hunt is on for the rest, including the CRPF constable, said to be posted in Jharoda.

The girl revealed the incident to her mother on Monday after she developed some health complications.

Also, since some of the accused were her neighbours and she encountered them often, she thought they would make the incident public soon, said the officer. “So, she confided in her mother, after which her father informed police,” he said. The victim’s father is a grade-four government employee.

The girl was sent for medical examination, which confirmed sexual assault. Police teams were soon formed and her friend Pramod, 19, and two juveniles, were held.

The girl, a class 10 student at a government school who lives in a slum cluster in Uttam Nagar with her parents, had gone to school as usual on July 19.

Pramod arrived at the school some time later and told her that her mother had taken seriously ill. “Pramod offered to take her home. The worried girl took the day off from school and went with him on his motorcycle. Pramod took her to a room in the area, where CRPF constable Surat, two minors and one other person were already present,” said the officer.

The five then allegedly took turns to rape her. When she protested, they threatened her with a gun. “They told her not to reveal the incident to anyone and threatened to upload the video they had shot of her on the Internet,” added the officer.

The room where the alleged incident took place was later found to be rented out by the CRPF constable.

The girl returned home and kept quiet till she developed the medical complications. Frightened by the sudden development and the fact that she was encountering some of the accused every day, she revealed everything to her mother.

The police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
