Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag on Sunday travelled to Ladakh and Siachen to have on the spot assessment of the Army’s preparedness in guarding the borders with China .

The new Army chief arrived in Leh on Sunday for a three-day visit, almost a year after Chinese troops intruded in the Depsang Valley, near Daulat Beg Oldie  air station in eastern Ladakh, triggering a diplomatic stand-off between the two neighbours.

Gen Suhag had a detailed interaction with the Commander of the Northern Command Lt Gen D S Hooda and General Officer Commanding of Leh-based 14 Corps Lt Gen B S Negi on the prevailing security environment and infrastructure development in Ladakh. He also reviewed the logistical infrastructure available to the soldiers. On Monday, the Army chief will visit forward posts of Eastern Ladakh, which witness frequent flare-up between India and China because of the unmarked disputed border.
