Ever since, Sumeet has many roles under his belt but till today people still remember him for Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. “In this field, a lot has to do with luck. Not every film can be a Sholay, right? Actually there was a time when Sarabhai... was also looked down upon because we used to mock the saas-bahu serials but now everybody wants it back on air,” he beams.

With the launch of a new serial Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo, Sumeet says that this will be the first time he will be in an out-and-out comedy serial. “The ones I have done before are very Brit in nature. But this is one serial that promises to be a dedication to pure comedy,” he adds.

About his experience during the making of the serial, he says that it was a perfect blend of experienced and fresh actors. But ask him if there was any challenges, he promptly tells, “There were no challenges as the script was perfect. The challenge arises when one has to overcome the expectations people have on me.”

Of late, Sumeet has also entered new and different mediums to showcase his talent. An experiment which he believes is the future of entertainment is Jai Hind, a show, that is currently being aired on the internet. Sumeet, explains that it is a perfect medium to target different classes of people. “It’s simply amazing because here we get an immediate response from our viewers. They always leave their comments which is very helpful and if they miss the show, they can always get into the archives and play it again,” he explains.

Bollywood also beckons this talented man. After seeing him in the big-budgeted Ajay Devgn film U Me Aur Hum, he will soon be seen in Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan. “I can’t reveal anything as Karan has zipped my lips,” he adds.

But just when we think Sumeet is being typecast, in just comedies, he goes onto reveal, “I will soon be seen in a serious role in Vipul Shah’s Kuch Love Jaisa. But this sure does not mean I will leave out on my comedy roles,” he signs off.
