Raja Marga to miss Dasara date again

MCC officials unsure about meeting deadline

 It’s official. Raja Marga will not be ready for this Dasara too as the missing link is expected to be completed only after Navaratri, by December.

Revenue and District in-charge Minister V Sreenivas Prasad on Tuesday indicated that MCC officials weren’t too optimistic about completing Raja Marga works before Dasara.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the civic works ahead of the festival here on Tuesday, Prasad said, however the works have been completed till Bata junction on Sayyaji Rao road. The works on the missing link till Torchlight Parade grounds the culmination point of Raja Marga will be taken up later.

Continuing, Prasad said, renovation works of Town Hall will be completed before the D-day. The contractor has been instructed to complete the pending works on installing audio system, fixing the seats and laying of the carpets on war-footing. Quoting the contractor, Prasad said it was impossible to complete the works outside the hall like multi-level parking and podium within the same time frame.

Taking cognisance of the complaints about potholes, Prasad directed the lower rung officials to take up the works on priority, without waiting for orders from their bosses.

A decorated jumbo with a howdah carrying the maharaja, encircled by a golden ring, creepers and flowers, and topped by a design denoting ‘Gandabherunda’ the royal emblem of Wadiyar’s, the erstwhile rulers of Mysore, forms the logo of Dasara 2014.
Prasad released the logo setting the tone for the Navaratri festivities, beginning from September 25. The logo is designed both in Kannada and English languages.

Addressing the gathering, Prasad said, to put the preparations on fast track, a list of officials entrusted with the task of 20 sub-committees in different roles like working president, deputy secretary and secretary have also been released. In the coming days, 25 members drawn from various other fields will be nominated to each sub-committees, including president, vice-president and other posts’.

Prasad reiterated that Gaja Payana, the march of first batch of elephants from the forest to city will be held on August 14, while the jumbos will be traditionally welcomed at Aranya Bhavan on August 16, before marching towards the camp at Palace. While all efforts are being made to resume Air Show, Dasara website another interesting feature of the festival will be launched soon.
