Prohibitory orders around Vidhana Soudha

Prohibitory orders around Vidhana Soudha

The City police will impose prohibitory orders within a radius of 1 km around the Vidhana Soudha on August 20.

A few associations have planned to picket the Vidhana Soudha, opposing the government’s decision to reject the final list of 362 probationary officers recruited by KPSC for the 2011 batch. The ban orders will come into effect at 6 am and will remain in force till midnight.

“The police have information that a few organisations will take out a procession to picket Vidhana Soudha on August 20. Hence, the prohibitory orders would be imposed under Section 144 of the CrPC,” said DCP (Central) Sandeep Patil.

The police will ban all processions and public meetings, barring marriage and funeral processions. Gathering of groups will be banned and the police will treat the group as an unlawful assembly. Carrying weapons and explosives, or burning of effigies will also be banned, informed the police.

The KAS aspirants, who have been staging a protest, had earlier decided to picket the Vidhan Soudha on August 16.

They decided to give up the protest as they failed to get any response from the government.
A few organisations and leaders of the opposition parties had extended support to the decision to picket the Vidhana Soudha.
