The City police will impose prohibitory orders within one-kilometre radius of the Vidhana Soudha on Friday under section 144 of the CrPC in an attempt to thwart lawyers’ plans to take out processions against the State government.

Lawyers have planned to take out two separate processions—from the City Civil Court to Mysore Bank Circle and Mayo Hall to Queen’s Circle—to condemn the government’s refusal of permission to the CBI to prosecute police officers who were charge-sheeted for their role in the violence that had broken out on the City Civil Court premises on March 2, 2012.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner M N Reddi said the decision to impose prohibitory orders was taken as there was danger to law and order. The prohibitory orders will remain in force from 6.30 am till 6.30 pm. Security arrangements have been made to thwart untoward incidents, Reddi stated.
