Bandh to protest sexual abuse in Alamel

The bandh in Alamel town, called to protest against the incident of sexual abuse at a hostel here, was total on Thursday.

A number of organisations had supported the bandh. Students of schools and colleges in the town took out a procession. ABVP activists set fire to tyres at the bus stand.
Shopkeepers downed shutters in support of the bandh.

Patients had a tough time as hospitals and pharmacies remained closed.

Those who took part in the procession demanded that the perpetrators of the crime should be given a harsh punishment.

A memorandum was submitted to the deputy tahsildar, in support of the demands.
