Delightful double for Pruthvi

Pruthvi Roy bagged a grand double clinching the boys’ under-13 singles and doubles titles in the 20th Ramaiah Rajan Memorial Junior State ranking badminton tournament here on Wednesday.

In the singles final, the top seed Pruthvi ended second seed CS Saket’s run with a fine 21-15, 21-15 victory. In the doubles clash, Pruthvi partnered Naren Iyer to beat Daniel Biju and Raghav Maheshwaran 21-13, 21-19, 21-14. In the under-15 girls’ singles title round, third seed Drithi Yatheesh prevailed in a hard-fought battle to upset top seed Shivani Pathi 21-11, 19-21, 21-13. In the corresponding boys’ singles match, Mayuresh Janpandit defeated S Avinash 21-19, 21-15 to claim the title.

Medha Shashidharan defeated Deetya Jagadiesh 21-12, 21-16 to win the girls under-13 title.
