Raghavendra takes oath as MLA

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s son B Y Raghavendra on Thursday took oath as MLA from Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa in Vidhana Soudha. 

Raghavendra had defeated H S Shantaveerappa Gowda of the Congress in the Shikaripura Assembly constituency by a margin of 6,430 votes in the recently concluded by-polls. 

Asked about the decrease in winning margin compared to the 2013 polls (won by Yeddyurappa), Raghav­endra said it was a message from the people that he should dedicate himself to the constituency. Raghavendra said his immediate priority would be to attend to the crop loss suffered by farmers due to floods in the constituency.
