This was not a typical biking event nor a typical festival. Organised on the theme of ‘National Safety Ride’, Bike Festival of India (BFI) was recently flagged off by cricketer Ishant Sharma in the national capital.

‘National Safety Ride’ is an initiative under the ambit of the Bike Festival of India. The inaugural edition of which will be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida on October 4 and 5.

Indian cricket team captain and avid biker Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the brand ambassador for BFI, which aims to provide a unique platform for biking community to come together and be a part of this first-of-its-kind biking adventure in the country. The event accentuates the importance of safe biking.

A joint initiative of Rhiti Sports Management and Event Capital, the BFI National Safety Ride will witness six male and three female bike enthusiasts on Triumph motorcycles in a nationwide ride in an attempt to spread awareness on safe biking. All the riders belong to the age group of 25-30 years old.

During this exciting awareness ride, the riders will be covering a total of 8100 kms over a span of 30 days with a halt in cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Chandigarh for ‘meet and greet’ sessions with bikers from other communities.

“I have been a biking enthusiast since long and Bike Festival of India is the perfect platform to foster a strong biking culture in India. Having said that it is also very important to spread awareness about safe biking in the country,” said Ishant Sharma during the event.

BFI National Safety Ride aims at strengthening the biking culture in India and most importantly safe biking and the use of helmets. Ikjot Singh, an avid biker convenor of BFI, said, “Through National safety ride, we not only create awareness on safe biking but also get an opportunity to engage with bikers across the country and thus build our community and gear them up for the mega bike festival, which will take them to an international platform. In this, we engage more and more youth of our country because they form an integral part of the biking community and play a crucial role in spreading the awareness on abiding by the safety norms.”
