Historians claim that for one whole week, before he finished creating this awesome piece of music, Handel neither ate, drank, or slept! He is supposed to have told his servant who brought food for him, after he had finished creating The Messiah that he seemed to have seen heaven and God while he worked.

When you listen to the Messiah and especially the enchanting Hallelujah Chorus you also tend to believe that he saw heaven as he created it! This three hour long choral masterpiece which is commonly sung at Christmas and Easter cast a spell on the world. King George II was so moved by it that he rose to his feet to applaud. The great Beethoven himself was awed by its majestic power to heal, comfort, charm and enthral with its message of wisdom and love, courage and grace.

If you are hooked by choral music then you are rich in the oddest spell of heaven itself solemnly speaking to you in a language of such silver sense and grace that nothing can really get at you.

It washes away mischief,  misery and malice and strengthens hope and happiness. When my personal enemy of red-haired malice catches up with me I listen to the Messiah and it clears up clutter at once! You could also listen to other Handel choral spells such as Dixit Dominus, Coronation anthems, and many more exquisite delights!

The Messiah can also be enjoyed in a DVD now available in Bangalore where you can see it being peformed in The Choir of Westminster Abbey by the Academy of Ancient Music. Then you will really get to see a bit of heaven with all its stars and a galaxy of angels spilling out the mesmerizing magic of music!
