The film bagged the Gold Award in the Best Motion Picture category, beating films like Love Aaj Kal, New York, Bhramaram, Gabhricha Paus and Harishchandrachi Factory.

Priyadarshan won the celebrated Gold Award in the ‘Best Director’ category for Kanchivaram, while Prakash Raj bagged the ‘Best Actor Award’ for his touching performance in the same film. Thiru also won an award in the ‘Best Cinematography’ category for the same film.

The Tamil film was produced by Percept Picture Company in partnership with Priyadarshan’s Four Frames Pictures. Said Shailendra Singh, Joint Managing Director of Percept, “This is a great honour for us, coming so close after the prestigious win at the 55th National Awards held recently. Our journey for good, meaningful content started a long time ago when we made films on social causes like Phir Milenge.”

“I have done a lot of movies for the masses. This is my 25th year as a film-maker, and I made this movie for myself. I am delighted to have received this honour and recognition, for a thought-provoking film like Kanchivaram,” said Priyadarshan.
